20-year-old Jack Eichel signed a contract that makes him highest-paid player in franchise history. The eight-year extension came down tuesday night via a one-minute Twitter video, less than an hour after initial reports of an agreement being imminent surfaced from NBC Sports and TSN.
Eichel was in the last year of his contract entry level deal which is paying him a salary of $925,000 and bonuses that could take the deal to close $3.7 million. The new contract begins in the 2018-19 season and goes through 2025-26. This contract by the terms end will make him one of the highest-paid players in the NHL.
