Chris Williams is the first player in Canisius history to be a finalist for the award given annually to the best player in college hockey. He is the third in Western New York history as Niagara's Joe Tallari was a top 10 finalist in 2003 and Carsen Chubak in 2013. Williams transferred to Canisius after spending four years at Ferris State is leading the nation with a .946 save percentage while being first with six shutouts. He ranks second with a 1.75 goals-against average and is in the top 10 nationally in saves (fourth with 997), shots faced (fifth with 1054), and winning percentage (eighth at .734).
The Hobey Baker Award winner will be revealed April 7 from Chicago during the NCAA Frozen Four.
